No, but when we give you an online quotation, it will be based upon your car being complete.

To be complete, a car must have all of its essential components, such as the engine, gearbox, wheels, bodywork, battery and catalytic converter (if originally fitted). None of these parts have to be working nor does the car have to be drivable.

If you tell us that your car isn’t complete, we’ll contact you to discuss whether we need to adjust the original quotation. If we do, we’ll always give you the chance to accept or reject the new quotation. To find out how much you could get for your scrap car click here.

No, but when we give you a quotation, it is based upon your car being free from “Significant Damage” such as damage sustained in a collision or as a result of an act of theft or vandalism. If your car is significantly damaged, please tell us as it could affect its value and we may need to adjust the quotation.

If we do find that your car is significantly damaged and we adjust the quotation, we will always give you the chance to accept or reject it. To find out how much you could get for your scrap car click here.

No, but our quotation will be based on your car being free from waste. Being free from waste means that your car does not contain any significant items of refuse such as garden/ household waste or old tyres etc.; basically anything that does not form part of the car itself.

If your car does contain waste, additional disposal costs may apply. This could affect the quotation, however we will always discuss this with you first. To get an instant, no obligation quote click here.

If you would like your car to be collected by us, it helps us to know whether or not the keys are available, however this is not essential nor does it affect the quotation. To get an instant, no obligation quote click here.
We may be able to accept motorcycles in some areas, however we regret that we cannot provide online quotations for motorcycles. If you wish us to quote for your scrap motorcycle to be recycled, please contact us using our online form and remember to tell us that it is a motorcycle.
No, unfortunately we do not accept caravans at this time.
No, your car does not need to have a valid insurance policy in order for it to be accepted at a CarTakeBack scrap car recycling centre. However, we strongly advise that you do not drive a car on the public highway without valid insurance; instead you should arrange for your scrap car to be collected. If your car does not have inflated tyres, please let us know in advance as this may affect the type of recovery equipment that we use. If we are not able to use a standard recovery vehicle or it takes longer than normal to collect the car, this may affect the quotation. If we do adjust the quotation, we will always give you the chance to accept or reject it. For a free scrap car valuation click here.
Your car needs to be on solid ground with fully inflated tyres so that it can be safely moved onto a standard recovery vehicle using a winch. The online quote will be based on your car being in an accessible location.

If you tell us that your car isn’t accessible, we’ll contact you to discuss whether we need to adjust the original quotation. If we do, we’ll always give you the chance to accept or reject the new quotation. To find out how much you could get for your scrap car click here.

If you have a personalised registration number (also known as a private plate or cherished plate) which you wish to keep, you must transfer it before you dispose of your old car. There is a leaflet available from DVLA on this subject, please see the further information section below.
